Carolinas HealthCare System promotes an environment where differences are valued and integrated into our patient care, community outreach and our workforce.
Carolinas HealthCare System maintains a number of recruiting, outreach and networking partnerships with organizations advancing diversity and inclusion in our region, including:
The diversity procurement team at Carolinas HealthCare System seeks out opportunities to partner with local minority- and women-owned businesses for goods and services needed by the organization. This provides greater economic health and opportunity for small and growing businesses. For its efforts, Carolinas HealthCare System was awarded the 2013 Premier Member Diversity Award for supplier diversity efforts.
To recommend a minority- or woman-owned business that would be an excellent supplier for Carolinas HealthCare System or for more information about the Supplier Diversity Program, call 704-512-7772. To apply as a minority supplier, please fill out the Supplier Registration Form.
Through an experiential learning program, high school students are connected with physicians and other healthcare providers to enhance student awareness of their career potential. Since 2009, more than 100 students have completed the program. Students from populations underrepresented in the health professions are encouraged to participate.
Diverse patient bases may have diverse health concerns, and we have the resources to help meet those needs in a culturally competent way. In every encounter with every patient, Carolinas HealthCare System staff and providers strive to provide a positive experience that ensures patient safety, quality care and excellent customer service.
We use a team-based approach to personalize care, making Carolinas HealthCare System services and locations easier to navigate and understand. Find out more about the support structure of our effort.
Our professional medical interpreters are culturally competent and interact with patients and medical professionals every day. All our care locations can provide interpreting services in-person or over the phone, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ask your care provider for an interpreter when you schedule a medical appointment.
Our Spiritual Care Department practices and promotes a holistic approach to care, with an emphasis on the emotional and spiritual aspects of healing for patients and families of all faiths. Staff chaplains are on call 24 hours a day for all patients and families, and interfaith worship services are offered regularly at each hospital. Hospital chapels also are open for private prayer and meditation.
