For more than a half century, residency and fellowship programs at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) have grown to include more than 300 trainees in over 50 programs and a faculty that exceeds 400 members. As one of only a handful of academic medical centers designated by the state of North Carolina, Carolinas Medical Center is an exciting place for future primary care physicians and medical sub-specialists to train in their fields. CMC currently conducts residency programs in 13 medical and dental specialties and fellowships in 37 subspecialties. We provide top-ranked pediatric, cancer and heart care to patients, as well as specialized musculoskeletal programs and organ transplants. Ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals in eight different specialties, we have also received the American Hospital Association’s Quest for Quality Prize.

Carolinas Medical Center is the region’s only Level I trauma center and is consistently rated among the nation’s best hospitals. With a commitment to every community we serve, Atrium Health seeks to improve health, elevate hope and advance healing – for all. Last year alone, Atrium Health provided more than $2.07 billion in free and uncompensated care and other community benefits.
