With state-of-the-art equipment, a large care team covering every pediatric rehabilitation specialty, and therapy spaces and programs specially designed for children, we're focused on helping your child regain maximum function in an environment tailored exclusively to their needs.

Pediatric Rehabilitation Conditions

If your child or teen has suffered a life-altering injury or they're limited by a neurological condition, they may be in need of pediatric rehabilitation care. Children who may qualify for pediatric rehabilitation services include those with:

  • Acute neurological conditions
  • Amputations
  • Brain or spinal cord injuries
  • Orthopedic injuries
  • Recent heart surgery or other operations
  • Chemotherapy or other cancer-related treatments

Inpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation

Levine Children's Hospital provides complete inpatient rehabilitation care for your child. At our pediatric rehabilitation pavilion, your child gets:

  • Close medical supervision by a specialized pediatric rehabilitation physician, and coordinated care from a large pediatric rehabilitation care team
  • Around-the-clock rehabilitation nursing care
  • Access to state-of-the-art equipment and adaptive facilities, including:
    • Large therapy gym with functional electrical stimulation for the upper and lower extremities, treadmill and other cardiovascular equipment, parallel bars and a tilt table
    • Therapeutic playroom for younger children, used to present therapy as play
    • Therapeutic recreation room for older children and teenagers where treatment options such as video games and air hockey are used to reach rehabilitation goals
    • Multi-sensory room used for structured introduction of sensory stimulation
    • Cheerful classroom used for testing and education
    • Dining room for speech/swallow treatment
    • Ceiling gait track system that allows patients to walk and perform high-level balance and coordination activities without the fear of falling
    • Access to a therapy pool and robotic-assisted gain training system modality
  • Minimum of 15 hours of weekly intensive rehabilitation care in a variety of specialties, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, recreational therapy and cognitive education
  • Tailored physical therapy sessions that incorporate child-friendly play and electronic gaming

Outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation

It's a rewarding moment when your child is ready to return home after all of their hard work. To keep their progress moving forward, it's important for your child to continue rehabilitation after they leave the hospital. We make it easy for your child to make the transition from inpatient to outpatient care so we can continue to help them improve in their daily life.
