Biography

Dr. Timothy Smith is board certified in pediatrics and specializes in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and critical care medicine. He has a special interest in endovascular medicine and critical care echocardiography.

His interest in heart and vascular medicine comes from a personal family history of loss, and his passion was solidified with access to education and the tools needed to improve the quality of life for his patients.

He has received recognition as Cincinnati Magazine’s Ohio Top Doctor and the Lifesaver Award from Christ Hospital. Additionally, he received a grant from Duke Clinical Research Institute for the regionalization of STEMI in Cincinnati, OH. He is involved in mechanical circulatory support and STEMI research.

Dr. Smith has authored or coauthored more than 100 manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters.

He has served as the principal investigator in more than 20 clinical trials and been involved in more than 50 trials. He was elected and served 2 terms on the Ohio American College of Cardiology Board of Trustees. He is a sought-after speaker and clinician at the regional, national and international levels.

Dr. Smith received his medical degree at East Carolina University, where he served as class president for 3 years. He completed residency at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. He completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and critical care medicine at Rush University, where he was chief fellow.

In his free time, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing the guitar, traveling and working out at the gym.
