Biography

“I enjoy helping patients through their health journeys, either with medical or surgical approaches and by supporting them through the associated emotional and spiritual challenges.”

Dr. Evans is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. She specializes in surgical critical care, trauma and emergency surgery. She serves as chief of the Surgical Critical Care Department, vice chair of research in the Department of Surgery and chair of REAL (Research, Education and Leadership Committee) for Atrium Health.

She has received numerous awards, including Physician of the Quarter from Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, the Presidential Citation from Atrium Health Critical Care Medicine and the CEO Challenge Coin. Dr. Evans has also been honored as the chair of the Society of Critical Care Medicine Surgical Section. She embraces the blend of surgical and medical therapies to help her patients succeed and provides support to the families of patients who are critically ill as an important therapeutic approach to recovery.

Dr. Evans received her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati and completed her residency at the University of Florida. She then completed a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
