Dr. Hobgood is board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry.
He works with all ages of patients but specializes in child psychiatry, including autism, disruptive behavioral disorders and mood disorders. He has a desire to help children with behavioral health issues, and their parents understand symptoms, diagnoses and treatments and to normalize common behaviors for these children.
He is an emergency department psychiatrist and telepsychiatry provider at Atrium Health Behavioral Health, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center. He has been named the emergency department provider with the highest Press Ganey score (patient satisfaction).
Dr. Hobgood received his medical degree from East Carolina University and completed a residency and fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Outside of work, he likes to travel, go to the beach, watch live entertainment and read, particularly mysteries.
