Getting well and staying well depends on taking care of the body and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. With that goal in mind, Levine Cancer Institute has collaborated with Carolinas HealthCare System Sports Medicine and the Dowd YMCA to develop the Levine Cancer Institute Cancer Wellness Program, a program funded by the 24 Hours of Booty organization.
Wellness and Exercise
The Levine Cancer Institute Cancer Wellness Program is a 12-week exercise and lifestyle program designed to assist participants in managing the physical side effects of cancer treatment and aid in recovery if cancer treatments have already been completed.
- Improving balance
- Increasing cardiovascular endurance
- Increasing strength
- Improving flexibility
- Improving ability to manage stress
- Improving nutrition
Participants work with a team of experts including registered nurses, registered dietitians and exercise specialists, working together to empower them with the tools needed to embrace a healthier lifestyle and reduce the likelihood of cancer recurrence.
- Weekly nutrition
- Exercise, including restorative yoga
- 12-week facility access to the YMCA of Greater Charlotte or Cannon Memorial YMCA locations
The program fee is based on a sliding scale with the maximum cost of $75 for YMCA members and $100 for non-members. Financial assistance is available.
