We appreciate your interest in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program here at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a great starting point to find out more about both our facility and our program.

Currently, if you would like to apply for our residency program, we only accept standard electronic applications through ERAS. Once the ERAS post office opens in mid-September, please submit your ERAS application to us. Please contact your school for specific information on the ERAS program.

Our deadline for applications is November 1. Addendums to applications will continue to be downloaded. However, new applications received after the deadline are not guaranteed to be reviewed. We review all applications online, eliminating the need for folders with miscellaneous documents either emailed or mailed in. Three letters of recommendation are required—at least one of which should be from an Emergency Medicine physician. We have no minimum score requirement on the USMLE Step 1.  We do not accept the COMLEX in lieu of the USMLE for DO applicants.

Many times we receive inquiries from international medical grads as to whether we can accept IMGs. The answer is yes (and we will sponsor their visa. We sponsor — J-1 – F-1 – H-1B – TN – EAC – Green Cards – all fees will need to be paid by the prospective employee—the only fee that Atrium Health pays is the $1,000  fee required by the INS for processing an H-1B visa. The person offered the position must have a current work authorization before he/she can start.)

Thank you again for your interest in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program here at Carolinas Medical Center. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our residency coordinator, Mary Fiorillo at 704-355-3658 or reach via email at mary.fiorillo@atriumhealth.org.
