Why I chose Levine Children's Hospital: We interact with a wide variety of pediatric subspecialists, and have great exposure to general inpatient pediatric diseases as well as outpatient pediatrics. The program is perfect for residents who are driven to learn.  Our attendings practice evidence based medicine, encourage academic endeavors, and provide a well-rounded cultural perspective on patient care. There is a great culture of health and fitness in the town and in our hospital, and an emphasis on work-life balance. I feel valued as an employee and valued by my peers.

What I like about Charlotte: Charlotte offers fun activities that appeal to my family of 5. My favorite activity is going to the neighborhood pool with my family. There are fantastic schools and a wealth of fun things to do on evenings and weekends.  Charlotte also has great access to zoos, the beach and the mountains when we get those glorious days off.

Why I chose Levine Children's Hospital: Levine Children’s Hospital is a beautiful facility in the nicest neighborhood of Charlotte. I was in awe of the friendly, clean and child-centered atmosphere, which is something that we create better than any other hospital I have been to. I was impressed by how approachable and resident-oriented the faculty seemed. My first impression was spot-on. This has been an incredible experience. I have grown so much alongside my co residents and with the support of attending physicians who seek to mentor and love to teach.

What I like about Charlotte: Charlotte is a beautiful, clean modern city with something for everyone. We have an NFL team, the nicest stadium in minor league baseball, and we are the home of NASCAR. If you love the outdoors, there’s a running and walking trail that runs right along the creek in front of the hospital, as well as the US National Whitewater training center with rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, and zip-lining . And, it’s only a short drive to the mountains or lake if you need a quick getaway. Don't forget a craft beer from one of Charlotte's many breweries! It’s a fun city to explore in your time off.

Why I chose Levine Children's Hospital: My husband and I had our son before I graduated from medical school. Since my husband's family lives in South Carolina we began looking for residencies in the south so our son could grow up near our family. While several programs had many qualities I was looking for, Levine Children's Hospital surpassed all of my expectations. What really solidified it as the right place for me was the residents and the faculty.   When I interviewed at CMC, it was clear that the residents all spent time together outside of work and truly cared about each other. Secondly, it was clear to me that the residents at CMC received an incredible education in pediatrics. After three years of being here I can say that our attendings not only care about our education but also care about each resident and truly invest in our lives.

Why I chose Levine Children's Hospital: I was instantly sold after my visit despite visiting many great programs! First, the people are awesome. The camaraderie between residents and faculty is genuine. Not to mention, the ancillary staff are phenomenal and very willing to assist and educate lost interns! The program also places a large focus on education in residency and assists us with attending medical conferences. Lastly, the hospital is the perfect blend of a private setting with a large academic center--best of both!

What I like about Charlotte: As a larger city, Charlotte is probably the nicest and cleanest in which I have lived or visited. You can't beat its location as we are just a couple hours from the beach and the mountains and only minutes from multiple lakes. It is a young and active city with tons of restaurants and bars. And between the professional sports teams, concert scene and parks/walking trails there's plenty to do. My wife and I love it here!
