Kim Causey completed her undergraduate education at James Madison University, in Virginia, where she received a B.S. in Biology. During undergraduate school, she worked at a local hospital as a clinical assistant, where she assisted patients with activities of daily living and served as an advocate for their needs and concerns.

Kim enrolled in the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 2008 and completed a doctorate of medicine in 2012. During medical school, she developed her leadership skills by serving both as a co-leader of the Foundations of Clinical Medicine course and as an officer in the MCV Yoga Physiology and Medicine Student Group.

Her hobbies include: learning about culture, art, and history, baking, cooking, reading, biking, swimming and hiking.
