Nurse Aide I - Training Program
The 130 hour North Carolina State Nurse Aide I Training Program is designed to provide the entry-level nurse aide student with the fundamental nursing skills essential for providing patient care services under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Upon completion, participants are prepared to take the state-approved written examination and demonstration of competency skills to be placed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry. Nurse Aide Review
This is a 40-hour course for the following individuals:

  • Those listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I (NC NA I) Registry but have let their registry listing lapse
  • Those who have a current or prior listing as a Nurse Aide in another state and wish to become listed on the NC NA I Registry
  • Those who have successfully completed a state-approved NA I course but have not yet taken the NC NA I exam

This is an intensive review of knowledge and an update of basic nursing skills needed in the care of the elderly and the infirm. Training for American Heart Association Healthcare Provider cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is included. After successful completion of the program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and may then apply to take the NNAAP NA I State Exam at an additional cost to the student. Upon successful completion of this exam, the individual will be listed on the NC NA I Registry. Students must be present for all 40 hours in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.

The curriculum for this program utilizes the recommended content areas from the American Heart Association.

HeartCode BLS eLearning Course
The student must register and pay tuition directly to The American Heart Association: cost is $28.50. Access the American Heart Association website by typing in the web address and choose HeahtCodeBLS. Complete the entire eLearning course. Upon completion of the course you will need to take the written exam provided. The test has to be completed in one sitting. Print the 'Course Completion Certificate' to bring when registering for the Skills Competency portion of the course. You are not considered BLS (CPR) certified unless you complete both the eLearning and skill portion of the course.

CPR Skills Competency
The student must register & pay directly to Cabarrus College of Health Sciences: cost is $25.00. You must bring the 'Course Completion Certificate' (Passing) in order to register for the skills competency.. Be ready to "check off" on all BLS Skills. You must complete skills check (Part 2) within 60 days of the eLearning course. You must successfully complete both Parts 1 & 2 to receive a BLS Provider card.
