Dr. Michael Kennelly, of the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He completed his residency in urology at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and his fellowship in neurourology at University of Texas in Houston, Texas. Dr. Kennelly serves as the co-director of the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health and medical director of the Charlotte Continence Center at Carolinas Rehabilitation. In addition to holding various faculty teaching positions at Carolinas HealthCare System, including its female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery fellowship, Dr. Kennelly serves as clinical professor in the department of surgery and division of urology at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Kennelly’s clinical, educational and academic expertise includes voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder and complex lower urinary tract and pelvic floor reconstruction. He is a lead investigator in several clinical trials on these topics. Dr. Kennelly has authored or co-authored several journal articles and book chapters on urinary incontinence and neurourology and has lectured extensively on these topics. He speaks internationally on neurogenic bladder, urologic complications of pelvic surgery, single incision slings, efficacy and safety in patients with urinary incontinence, and many other topics in the subspecialty area of female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Kennelly is a Diplomat of The American Board of Urology with certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a member of more than 15 professional organizations and holds several leadership positions. He is the Treasurer of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, President of the American Paraplegic Society, Past President of the American Spinal Injury Association and a Board of Director of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction. Dr. Kennelly is also listed in America’s Top Doctors for 13 consecutive years (2002-2015) and is principal investigator in over 60 clinical trials, in addition to co-author of several journal articles, book chapters and educational videos.

At the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health, Dr. Kennelly specializes in the treatment of women with pelvic floor disorders such as incontinence and prolapse which includes laparoscopic/robotic and vaginal repair of prolapse, graft augmentation, mid-urethral sling placement, neuromodulations therapy, Interstim, botox treatments and urethral bulking incontinence.
