Dr. Michelle Matthews is the director of the Women’s Institute at Carolinas Healthcare System as well as the director of Fertility Preservation. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialty board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She completed her residency at Summa Health System in Ohio and her fellowship training at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago in 1998.
Dr. Matthews has over 20 years of clinical experience and her research interests include fertility preservation in cancer patients, ovulation induction and in vitro fertilization. She has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals, one book on reproductive endocrinology, and presented several scientific research studies. Her awards include both the American Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology national resident and medical student teaching awards, Best Doctors in America and Charlotte Top Doctors. She is a member of the Center for Faculty Excellence at Carolinas HealthCare System and the Academy of Educators at UNC Chapel Hill.
Her personal interests include crossfit, learning piano, and cooking.
