Carolinas HealthCare System

Mentoring

Mentoring at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine

The Charlotte-track students will have a mentor assigned to them in Chapel Hill and also here at Carolinas HealthCare System. The students will be introduced to their mentor during their first week of orientation. Fifteen members of our fantastic department of Emergency Medicine have volunteered to mentor students throughout the upcoming year.

These faculty members will be a valuable resource and are not involved in grading or evaluations. The mentors have a broad knowledge base and will be helpful in many ways: honing oral or written presentations, clinical reasoning, work/life balance, observing and giving feedback, shadowing in the emergency department (ED), career musing, socializing, etc.
