Cardiopulmonary / Respiratory Therapy and Ventilator Program

CARDIOPULMONARY/RESPIRATORY THERAPY AND VENTILATOR PROGRAM

Carolinas Rehabilitation offers Respiratory Care Services to both in-patients and outpatients. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioners provide therapy 24 hours/day, 7 days/week under the medical direction of a Pulmonary Physician. The goal of this program is to increase the patient's functional independence while improving his or her respiratory status. The Respiratory Therapist works closely with the rest of the multidisciplinary team to provide the highest quality care to the patient with respiratory needs.

Services include:

  • Mechanical Ventilation
  • Bronchodilator Therapy
  • Volume Expansion
  • Diagnostic Procedures

The Ventilator Program provides an individualized approach to ventilator weaning. The program is designed to accommodate neurologically injured clients such as those with a spinal cord-injury or a traumatic brain-injury who need ventilator support and to facilitate weaning with patients when it is appropriate. Ventilator dependent patients and their families are trained in how to care for the ventilator once discharged home.

Patients enrolled in this program must meet Carolinas Rehabilitation admission criteria.
