GROUND
MedCenter Air maintains a growing number of ambulances based throughout the Charlotte region for basic, advanced and specialty care transports.
Bases include:
- Carolinas Medical Center
- Carolinas Medical Center-University
- Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville
- Anson Community Hospital, Wadesboro, NC
Crews:
Configuration is based on patient condition and needs
- Combinations of emergency medical technicians, paramedics, nurses and respiratory therapists
- The nurses and respiratory therapists have the same
training as the helicopter and fixed wing staff.
- Paramedics are required to have three to five years EMS experience and are trained in critical care ground transport
- Additional requirements include TNCC, BTLS / ATLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certification, yearly rotations through high-risk OB, OR and cardiac catherization labs for procedure training
Equipment:
- Ten ambulances equipped at the critical-care level
- Each ambulance can transport one adult patient or
one isolette
- Neonatal transport truck capable of transporting
two isolettes
- Satellite tracked
- All vehicles have 110 volt inverters. Some also have AC generators
- Advanced medical equipment including LP-12 monitors, LV1000 ventilators, multiple IV infusion pumps, advanced drug supply and Intra Aortic Balloon Pumps
