  • Pediatric oncology social worker
  • Child life specialist
  • Chaplain

Over the last half of the 20th century, progress in pediatric cancer diagnosis and treatment has turned a once fatal disease into one that is now curable in most children. The Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Program is dedicated to providing excellence in treatment, patient care, research and education in an environment that respects and values each patient and family member.

The treatment plan prescribed will depend on the type of cancer or blood disorder, the extent of spread, and other individual factors. Most children will be treated with surgery, chemotherapy and or radiation therapy. More than 700 children with cancer or hematologic diseases have been treated at Blumenthal Cancer Center since 1999.
