In fact, the lead site for a national study to examine the safety of combining multiple state-of-the-art therapies to achieve the best results possible in the treatment of primary brain cancer--GLIADEL Wafer--is in Charlotte.

GLIADEL Wafer is a treatment for newly diagnosed patients with high-grade malignant glioma, a specific type of brain tumor. The study is a phase II clinical trial designed to enroll 40 patients and will address the safety and feasibility of using this therapy on a larger scale.
