METROLINA TRAUMA ADVISORY COMMITTEE (M-TAC)
A Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) is a legislated group representing trauma care providers and the community, affiliated with a Level One or Two trauma center. It is tasked with regional planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a coordinated trauma system.
A hospital may choose more than one RAC to join, however, a primary RAC must be identified for data purposes.
Mission Statement
The Metrolina Trauma Advisory Committee's (M-TAC) goal is to promote optimal trauma care in the Southern Piedmont region of North Carolina by reducing trauma related morbidity and mortality through the development, implementation and evaluation of a regional trauma systems plan.
Legislative Update
Former NC Senator Charles Carter of District 28 has developed Senate Bill #1435: "an act to support the work of trauma centers across the state through an increase in the fee charged for restoring drivers licenses revoked for alcohol-related offenses and to create the statewide trauma system study commission."
This bill is very personal for Senator Carter. He became intimately familiar with trauma care after suffering from a traumatic injury himself which required hospitalization at Mission St. Josephs in Asheville.
