The Department of Sports Medicine/Special Events has a mobile athletic training vehicle to provide an on-the-scene facility for the evaluation and early management of athletic injuries.
The vehicle is a fully self-contained unit carrying its own water and power supply. It is equipped with an array of medical diagnostic equipment as well as supplies and equipment for the emergency treatment and short-term rehab of athletic injuries. The vehicle also provides a suitable facility for medical screenings of various types offering more privacy and more efficient screenings for patients.
The vehicle is not a transport unit but can provide an area where an injured athlete needing transport can be monitored and receive appropriate attention until a transport vehicle arrives. The unit is ideal for multi-team events (soccer tournaments, cross- country meets, track meets, etc.) conducted in remote areas that do not have medical facilities available. The unit and members of our staff are also available to go to schools (high schools, middle schools, elementary schools) and provide instruction in a wide variety of health related issues.
