In the words of the Gaughen family

Savannah's story 1

Savannah's story 2

Our daughter was diagnosed with an AV canal defect (Atrioventricular canal defect) during a prenatal ultrasound screening at 20 weeks. We hoped for the best but prepared for the worst in dealing with this diagnosis.

Savannah had the surgery performed by Dr. Ben Peeler at Levine Children’s Hospital just before her second birthday. It was the hardest thing we have ever had to do,  watching her go through that experience, but we were amazed with the care that she received during our stay. EVERY person that interacted with us showed a level of conscientiousness and care that we have not seen ANYWHERE else in our experience with the medical community. Dr. Peeler's technical abilities and bedside manner were beyond reproach.

Our daughter has now recovered completely and her scar is barely visible. Today she is a happy, healthy, bright toddler, and people are amazed when they find out she had open heart surgery.

Our experience at Levine Children's Hospital exceeded every hope we dared to have concerning our daughter's congenital heart disease, and we feel so blessed.

For Dr. Peeler and his whole team, there are no words to express our gratitude. But we will try. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!!
