LifeShare of the Carolinas is a not-for-profit organ recovery organization that serves as a link between patients who need transplants and the donors who make those transplants possible. LifeShare’s hospital development specialists work with partner facilities to identify potential donors and assist throughout the donation process.

Through the collaboration of these teams, Sanger is able to perform 20 to 30 heart transplants annually. Both teams’ efficiency and commitment to maximizing the gift of donation have cut the Sanger waiting list times to less than half the national average.

LifeShare is a federally designated member of the Organ Procurement and Transplant Network.

It is accredited by the Association of Association of Organ Procurement Organizations, the Eye Bank Association of America, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
