The goal of the Office of Grants, Contracts & Funding is to support the Carolinas HealthCare System community in securing and administering sponsored projects. Our office assists with oversight of the non-financial life cycle of sponsored projects and offers the services listed below.

Grants and Contracts Administration
Pre-Award Functions

Application Preparation and Submission
  • Provides training and guidance for PIs/PDs
  • Hold kickoff meetings with PIs/PDs and their project teams
  • Submit applications on behalf of the institution
  • Coordinate related documents:
    • Form pages
    • Letters of Intent
    • Statements of Work
    • Budget documents with Research Finance 
    • Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) documents with Research Quality and Regulatory Affairs
Non-Industry Sponsored Contracting
  • Work with the Office of General Counsel on contract preparation, negotiation, and execution for non-industry funded projects

Post-Award Functions

Pre- to Post- Award Transition
  •  Review and process new funding ensuring inclusion of: 
    • Agreement terms
    • Budget information
    • Compliance approvals
    • Related agreements
    • Supporting documentation
  • Initiate project set-up in financial management system
Post-Award Non-Financial Management
  • Notify PIs/PDs of report-related deliverables
  • Assist with progress report preparation and submission
  • Submit prior approval requests
  • Request no cost extensions
  • Assist with award closeout
    • Final Progress Reports
    • Final Invention Statements
