At the Torrence E. Hemby Jr., Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC, we know the battle with cancer doesn’t stop once the disease enters remission. In an effort to continue compassionate support of our patients and their families, we offer access to a unique clinic focusing on the special needs, circumstances and considerations of what is oftentimes referred to as “survivorship.”
The Caring About Remission Everyday (CARE) clinic is dedicated to providing support, guidance and preventive care for childhood cancer survivors. We’ll continue working with your family, monitoring your child even after treatment to ensure best possible results, catching any abnormal signs early and making referrals to any other physicians your child needs to visit.
The CARE Clinic provides long-term pediatric cancer survivors with care, education and counseling regarding the specific risks to which they are susceptible. This clinic changes from a focus on treatment of the primary disease and its recurrence to a focus on wellness and potential late-effects of therapy.
Due to advancements in treatment, the population of childhood cancer survivors continues to increase. Levine Children’s Hospital’s efforts to continue support, guidance and preventive care for these children and their families is crucial to our survivor's health and improved quality of life.
