Dr. Raj received his undergraduate degree in biophysical chemistry from Princeton University and his medical degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University. His internship in internal medicine was at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pa., and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation was at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Raj's special interests are in cancer rehabilitation and research in hematological and oncological rehabilitation issues. He is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Association for Academic Physiatrists.
Dr. Raj enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his wife and three dogs.
Shawn E. Van Wallendael, PA
Mr. Wallendael received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from University of Rochester and his master's degree and Ph.D. in chemistry from Northwestern University.
He has been a member of the Carolinas Rehabilitation staff for nearly 10 years. He began as a pediatrics CNA and later attended Wake Forest University for his physician's assistant certification. Since receiving his certification, he has assisted with stroke, pediatrics, oncology, spinal cord injury and orthopedic rehabilitation at Carolinas Rehabilitation.
In his spare time, he enjoys participating in amateur theatre with Salisbury's Piedmont Players and the St. Thomas Players. In addition to acting, his other interests include spelunking, chess and other games.
