The Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) fellowship program at Carolinas HealthCare System was recently accredited by the ACGME and will be accepting applications through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for the 2016 academic year. It is my pleasure to invite you to learn more about our program. Carolinas HealthCare System is one of the nation’s largest organizations dedicated to educating future physicians and surgeons.
I am personally proud of the extraordinary faculty within our combined division. We have come together from the departments of urology and obstetrics and gynecology to put together a robust clinical and academic program in all facets of FPMRS. We are together because of our profound interest in multidisciplinary patient care and surgical education. We take great pride in our ability to foster a collegial but challenging academic environment.
Each of the faculty have a focused subspecialized area of interest within FPMRS. This includes all aspects of surgical treatment of pelvic floor disorders, pelvic floor imaging, surgical innovations and neurourology. As a fellow, you'll be exposed to state-of-the-art surgical approaches including vaginal, laparoscopic and robotic approaches. As the region's largest healthcare system, our patient population is diverse and includes some of the most complicated clinical scenarios. There is no doubt that our fellows will graduate with excellent surgical experience in treating pelvic floor disorders.
The city of Charlotte and our institution is a great place to train. It's also a great environment in which to live. I invite you to explore our program as well as the Charlotte region. If you have questions or would like to visit, please don't hesitate to contact our Program Coordinator or me.
