Recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education as a candidate program, the Carolinas HealthCare System/Wingate University Neurologic Physical Therapy program trains physical therapists in advanced neurologic physical therapy care.
Residents in the full-time, one-year program provide patient care 32 hours per week, including four hours with a clinical mentor. Residents are employed by Carolinas HealthCare System and get a program- adjusted salary that includes a full benefits package.
Residents engage in didactic studies, lab sessions and directed learning activities with Wingate University Department of Physical Therapy faculty. The curriculum integrates scientific concepts that enhance patient examination, clinical decision-making, medical management and advanced treatment skills.
The didactic component of the program provides instruction in relevant basic sciences, motor learning and motor control, pharmacology, imaging, differential diagnosis, outcome measures, critical inquiry, and the evidence-based process of neurological rehabilitation across the patient-client management model.
All applicants are required to complete an on-site or a video interview.
