Welcome to Carolinas Medical Center in Monroe, NC!
It is my pleasure to introduce you to our Family Medicine Residency program. Our program was established in 1997 and is fully-accredited by the ACGME. Our program focuses on educating residents who would like to work in small town or suburban communities. Year one occurs at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, a major teaching hospital. There is a strong emphasis on acute and critical care and preventative medicine. Years two and three are based at CMC-Union, a community hospital located in Monroe, NC. These two years emphasize the knowledge and skills necessary for small town or suburban family practice, which includes more ambulatory experiences, community medicine, and public and mental health.
Our program offers the “best of both worlds”:
- Community based
- University affiliated (branch Campus of UNC School of Medicine)
- “Opposed” and “unopposed” enviroments
Continuity experience for all three years will follow an apprenticeship model. The physicians at Union Family Practice serve as mentors/educators for this program's residents. Union Family Practice is a well-established practice with an excellent reputation in the community; patient and employee satisfaction are unparalleled.
On this site, you will find information on our faculty, curriculum, residents' salary and benefits as well as general information on the Charlotte and Monroe areas. Please contact us if you have any questions about the program or the application process.
Thank you again for your interest in our program and best wishes as you enter into the next phase of your professional life. I hope to see you soon!
