The Dickson Advanced Analytics (DA2) group was created in 2012 to help Carolinas HealthCare System become a leader in the use of healthcare analytics for population health management and predictive modeling.
DA2 is made up of teams consistently producing innovative resources and technologies. Meet the leaders from each team:
Michael Dulin, MD, PhD, Chief Clinical Officer for Analytics and Outcomes Research Dulin helps lead Research and Evidence-Based Medicine at Carolinas HealthCare System. He has a strong interest in primary care-oriented research and has developed Charlotte, NC's first practice-based research network, which is actively studying issues related to healthcare access and quality.
Avery Ashby, Assistant Vice President of Population Health Analytics Ashby leads a team focused on building enterprise-wide solutions around payor analytics, care management solutions, program evaluation, patient segmentation, predictive modeling, and data asset development. He has over 12 years of experience in payor settings, and joined CHS in May 2013.
Rebecca Chassie, Assistant Vice President of Analytics Services Chassie leads a team of analysts and data scientists to directly support and service CHS Medical Group with advanced analytics. She joined Carolinas HealthCare System in 2007 and has been a leader in the Finance Division supporting the Medical Group in areas of Financial Reporting, Planning, Analysis and Revenue Cycle. .
Angela Humphrey, MS, Assistant Vice President of Clinical Quality Informatics Humphrey leads a team of more than 38 clinical analysts who perform data abstraction, interpretation and reporting across the enterprise. She joined Carolinas HealthCare System in 1998 as a Health Services Researcher for the R. Stuart Dickson Institute for Health Studies and in 2001 led the Center for Clinical Data Analysis.
Tim Reagan, Assistant Vice President of Data Services Reagan leads a team of business intelligence and informatics professionals who enable the organizational transformation of an actionable information management discipline, including data integration, data quality, data delivery and business intelligence solutions. He joined Carolinas HealthCare System in 2013, previously holding IT leadership positions in the Managed Care industry.
Melanie Spencer, PhD, MBA, Assistant Vice President of Clinical and Outcomes Research Spencer leads a team of research scientists, health services researchers, biostatisticians, database developers and project managers responsible for developing, conducting and supporting research that improves patient care and outcomes. She joined Carolinas HealthCare System in 2012 and was previously with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Michael Trumbore, MBA, Assistant Vice President of Advanced Analytics Trumbore leads the client services division, comprised of client relations, project and demand management and data governance. He joined Carolinas HealthCare System in 1983 as director of clinical engineering and has since held leadership positions in business planning, strategic planning, managed care and business intelligence.
