At Levine Children's Hospital, becoming a volunteer is a commitment, and for the safety of our patients and families, we have a thorough review and application process.

Application Process

Adult Volunteers (18 and older)

In-house and On-call Volunteers

  1. Submit a completed application
  2. Include three non-family references (within application)
  3. Authorize us to conduct a criminal background check
  4. Provide documentation of two measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox immunizations
  5. Receive two TB skin tests
  6. Appear for a personal interview with a volunteer coordinator
  7. Attend a three-hour volunteer training

Acceptance of volunteers is contingent upon meeting the above requirements and the needs of the hospital. Completing an application does not guarantee acceptance into the volunteer program.

If you feel you will be able to meet the above requirements, complete our application.

Please call 704-355-2105 or email Levine Children's Hospital Volunteer Services with questions. The application and training process may take three to six weeks.

Teen Volunteers (15 to 18 years old)

Levine Children's Hospital Summer Volunteer Program

  1. Application submission opens January 1 and closes March 1. All applications must be submitted by the March 1 deadline, no exceptions! Each application must include two teacher references and an essay. We also require a background check of all candidates.
  2. Acceptable candidates will be notified and scheduled for interviews March 1 through April 1.
  3. Notification of acceptance into the program will be completed by April 15. Please be aware that there are limited positions available. Not all applicants will be offered a position.
  4. If selected, the volunteer will attend an orientation prior to volunteering in the hospital. The orientation is roughly three hours and will provide information that volunteers need in order to safely provide service in a hospital setting.
  5. Volunteers will also be required to receive a health clearance from Teammate Health. Students will be required to present a copy of their vaccinations, a health history form, and documentation of the first of two TB skin tests before clearance will be given.
  6. Scheduling for all teen volunteers will be complete by May 31.

Volunteers are required to be available on a weekly basis. Teen volunteers work the same shift each week for their position. Please be aware there are limited positions available and not all applicants are offered positions. Learn more about our teen volunteer program.

Please call 704-355-2105 or email Levine Children's Hospital Volunteer Services with questions. The application and training process may take three to six weeks.
