Thank you for your interest in the Child Life Shadowing Program at Levine Children’s Hospital. The program is for individuals, 18 and older, to observe a certified Child Life specialist in a healthcare setting. The goal of our program is to educate as many people as possible about the unique way Child Life services can impact the pediatric population and to ignite a passion in students for a possible career in the field.
We welcome students looking for an introduction to Child Life, community members wanting to gain a better perspective on services offered, as well as individuals looking for a potential career change.
Shadowing opportunities are offered in four-hour increments, either 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please submit your preferred date and time a month prior to allow time for scheduling. We also encourage applicants to review the Child Life Council website prior to applying.
This program is for observation only and cannot be used to satisfy or replace practicum or hands-on hours for coursework.
Due to high patient needs during the holiday season, we do not provide shadowing opportunities during the week of Thanksgiving through the New Year.
