Children's Services

We want you to spend as much time as you can with your baby while they stay in our neonatal intensive care unit nursery. We're committed to providing a safe and comforting environment when you visit your little one.

Information for all Visitors to the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery

Parents are welcome in the nursery at any time (except during shift changes, which are noted below). Other visitors are encouraged to visit during the hours of noon and 9 p.m. (except during shift changes, which are noted below). Visitors who are sick cannot enter the neonatal nurseries. Our staff reserves the right to limit visitation in the best interest of infants, families, visitors and staff.

The nursery is closed during shift changes (6:30 to 7:30, a.m. and p.m.) or during any emergency, stressful activity, critical admission or surgical procedure.

For the health and protection of the nursery's babies, all visitors must:

  • Wear an identification badge
  • Fill out a screening tool
  • Wash your hands using our specialized handwashing machines and wear a hospital gown before entering the nursery

Visiting Information for Parents

  • Parents or parental designees are welcome in the nursery at any time (except during shift changes).
  • Parents can designate in writing up to four people who are allowed to visit without a parent present.
  • Please continue to wear your parent identification bracelet until your baby is discharged to identify you as your baby's parents.
  • We will ask for your bracelet number before giving out any information about your baby. The nursery staff will give information to parents or parental designees only.
  • You will decide who is able to visit your baby, and a parent must accompany all visitors. Only two people are allowed at your baby's bedside at a time.

Visiting Information for Siblings and Grandparents

  • Brothers and sisters two years old and older may visit. Other children of the family (nieces, nephews, cousins or friends) must be 10 years old or older.
  • Sibling visitation is by appointment. Please call your infant's nurse before you come to the hospital to arrange time for sibling visits.
  • Grandparents may visit without parents if the parents have given written consent to the baby's nurse. Grandparents cannot bring in other visitors.

We're here to help you. If you have questions or concerns, simply ask to speak with our nurse manager.
