Fetal Conditions Diagnosed and Treated
Our experts diagnose and treat a range of conditions, including:
Abdominal wall defects and chest abnormalities
Brain and neurological problems
Twin abnormalities, including:
Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, a type of pregnancy in which two fetuses unequally share one placenta, can cause fetal death if left untreated. Our available treatments include procedures to equalize or relieve pressure in the fetal sac. We also offer fetoscopic laser ablation, which corrects the condition at the source by destroying the blood vessels causing the abnormal blood flow. Our specialists were the first in the region to perform this surgery.
Twin-Reversed Arterial Perfusion (TRAP) Sequence, a rare condition, occurs when twin fetuses share one placenta, but an imbalance causes one fetus to put excessive strain on the other twin's heart, putting them at greater risk of heart failure. Our experts offer a range of treatments, including radiofrequency thermal ablation, which seals off the abnormal blood flow without harming the viable fetus. Our specialists were the first in the world to perform this procedure.
