The Breast Center at Levine Cancer Institute offers patients innovative comprehensive care.
For benign and malignant diseases of the breast, the center provides the complete range of treatment options, including:
- Breast surgery
- Radiation therapy
- Access to current clinical research trials
Breast Cancer Clinical Trials and Research
Levine Cancer Institute also offers clinical research trials designed to evaluate and improve the initial treatment of cancer, as well as the treatment of recurrent or advanced cancer.
Fortunately, not all diseases affecting the breast are cancer — there are many breast conditions that can mimic cancer. These conditions and others require specific knowledge and expertise to be managed properly. As physicians and nurses dedicated to the care of all breast diseases, we are well equipped with both traditional and innovative techniques to optimize care.
Levine Cancer Institute has been recognized by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons, signifying the highest level of quality breast care.
Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center ensures that patients have access to:
- Comprehensive care, including a full range of the most advanced procedures.
- A multidisciplinary team to coordinate the best treatment options.
- Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options.
- Quality breast care close to home.
Focus on the Patient
Communication with patients and caregivers is an important priority at Levine Cancer Institute. We believe that treating the whole person, not just the disease, is best for patients and family members.
At Levine Cancer Institute, we offer a broad range of emotional support programs designed to help patients and family members cope with the range of issues related to life during and after cancer treatment.
Breast Cancer Risk Assessment
Families with a strong history of cancer may desire more information concerning their risk for cancer. Genetic counseling and Breast Cancer Risk Assessment are readily available. Breast Cancer Risk Assessment is a joint effort with the Clinical Genetics Department of Carolinas Medical Center.
