The International Medical Outreach Program—a partnership between the Heineman Foundation of Charlotte and Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS)—has a proud 50-year history of providing medical assistance globally, and locally, through the donation of medical equipment as well as education to promote better living standards and sustainable healthcare.
With support from foundations, firms and individuals, we actively provide equipment and supply donations to clinics and hospitals worldwide. These contributions improve and, in many instances, establish programs geared toward public health and individual patient care, especially in the field of cardiac care.
Through our association with CHS and its world-class experts, we also are able to establish professional contacts and provide clinical and technical education and training to medical personnel worldwide. Charlotte-based personnel travel abroad to teach, and healthcare providers from overseas travel to Charlotte to learn.
While the bulk of our projects are based in Central America, our positive and significant impact on healthcare can also be seen in Africa and the Caribbean. In 2011 alone, we provided more than $2.5 million in services, refurbished medical equipment and materials to industrially underdeveloped countries, and we facilitated the exchange of many hours of medical education and training opportunities.
We hope you enjoy vising our website and reading about our Program.
