Research Interests

Dr. Lieberman’s career goal is to become an independent investigator in the field of cardiovascular disease prevention through nutrition in individuals with chronic spinal cord injuries (SCI). He was a mentored Principal Investigator on a SCI coronary heart disease study during his residency. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship funded by a NHLBI Research Supplement to Promote Diversity, in which I was a mentored principal investigator. The research study was on dietary patterns and dietary intake in individuals with chronic SCI. In addition to this, he is the Principal Investigator of an institutionally-funded SCI Registry that he and colleagues started in order to register patients with SCI who are interested in participating in future research. His MSPH coursework, master’s thesis and other career development activities have given him a strong foundation in clinical research methods, clinical research design, data analysis, epidemiology, and health behavior change.
