As a bridge between the healthcare system and the client's spiritual community, Faith Community Health Ministry helps bring an understanding of the medical environment, which at times can be overwhelming.
One way we partner with faith communities is by establishing health ministry teams with a faith community nurse (FCN). Faith community nursing was formally recognized as a specialty by the American Nursing Association in 1998. A FCN is required to complete an approved basic preparatory training to support holistic health and provide spiritual care in a faith community.
If there is no registered nurse within your faith community, a layperson with a passion for caring can fill the need by receiving the necessary training to become a faith community health promoter.
