Located in the heart of Cabarrus County, CMC-NorthEast is a 457-bed medical center with a reputation for excellence built on advanced technology, medical staff
experience, quality and compassionate care. CMC-NorthEast joined Carolinas Medical Center on July 1, 2007. Previously named NorthEast Medical Center, its roots in
Cabarrus County date back to 1937. Over the years, the hospital changed from a small county-owned facility to a regional medical center focusing on patient care,
education and research.
The hospital is home to six Centers of Excellence: Batte Cancer Center, Cannon Heart Center, Diagnostics and Imaging Center, Emergency Care Center, Hayes Family
Center and Surgery Center. In addition, the hospital in 2006 opened the Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital, a hospital within the hospital dedicated to the care of the
region's children.
BATTE CANCER CENTER
At the Batte Cancer Center, we celebrate life. We encourage each person to find the path that is right for them as we accompany them on their journey against cancer.
We support and guide each patient through the many choices and stages along the way. The Batte Cancer Center recently expanded into a new 124,256 square foot building that
opened in May 2007. The Pavilion now houses the Cannon Heart Center,
the outpatient pharmacy, and the new Batte Cancer Center, with nearly 45,000 square feet dedicated to cancer treatment.
Additional space for new technologies include a 2,000 square foot concrete vault for the
CyberKnife®, a non-invasive radiosurgery device that delivers
highly focused radiation to destroy cancerous cells.
The Batte Cancer Center includes two linear accelerators and a complete Breast Health program located in our
Breast Center. Now in our new facility,
the oncology pharmacy provides expanded services including a specialty dispensing area for "take home."
CANNON HEART CENTER
The Cannon Heart Center stands as the perfect example of a comprehensive and award-winning cardiac care center. And we are proud that Healthgrades, a national healthcare
quality organization, has rated us as Best in the Region for Cardiac Surgery.
From the Chest Pain Unit to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab to a state-of-the-art cardiovascular operating team and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, highly skilled
and trained physicians, nurses and clinicians diagnose and treat heart patients throughout the Cabarrus County region and beyond.
With over 10 years of experience and operation, it is no
wonder The Cannon Heart Center has been rated Best in the Region for cardiovascular care. Visit us and see first hand our compassionate care and commitment to excellence.
DIAGNOSTIC AND IMAGING CENTER
Early, accurate diagnosis is the first step to proper treatment. For this reason, CMC-NorthEast continually invests in the most advanced technology and equipment such
as the GE LightSpeed CT scanner and GE Echo Speed Short Bore MRI scanner.
Our comprehensive imaging services have separate facilities designed specifically for the unique needs of both inpatients and outpatients. Board certified radiologists
with subspecialty training staff the Diagnostic Imaging Department 24 hours a day. A special "physician hotline" quickly connects your doctor with a radiologist to discuss
X-ray results and findings. For these reasons, thousands of people every year trust CMC-NorthEast to perform and interpret their imagery studies.
EMERGENCY CARE CENTER
CMC-NorthEast's 31,000-sq. ft. Emergency Care Center delivers comprehensive emergency treatment in a facility designed to treat major and minor injuries and illnesses
efficiently. Our triage system allows the emergency team to identify critically ill patients and the ECC has easy access to radiology, laboratory and operating rooms.
The center's treatment rooms feature the latest technology and each patient's progress is tracked by a computerized system. We are also home to a Level III Trauma Center.
HAYES FAMILY CENTER
The Mariam Cannon Hayes Family Center at CMC-NorthEast Medical Center is distinguished by its commitment to caring for your family as we would care for our own.
Offering private labor, delivery and recovery rooms (LDRs) as well as private mother/baby rooms with sleeping accommodations for fathers or significant others, our
hallmark is mother/baby couplet care where the same nurse cares for you and your baby.
THE SURGERY CENTER
Our Surgery Center has been recognized by Healthgrades, a national organization that measures hospital quality indicators, as
Rated Best in the Region for overall Cardiac Surgery.
Our 12 state-of-the-art operating rooms serve the needs of skilled, board-certified surgeons and a highly-trained nursing staff with expertise in a wide range of
surgical specialties including cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopaedic and otolaryngology.
The addition of the Copperfield Outpatient Surgery Center,
with its four additional operating rooms and two additional procedures rooms, brings an even greater level of quality services.
QUALITY MATTERS
CMC-NorthEast has accumulated many accolades for excellence. Among them, Solucient, a leading healthcare
information company, has named CMC-NorthEast to its 100 Top Hospitals ® list under the category of "Teaching Hospitals". CMC-NorthEast is accredited by The Joint Commission,
an independent, not-for-profit organization, which is governed by a board that includes physicians, nurses, and consumers. The Joint Commission sets the standards by which
healthcare quality is measured in America and around the world.
TEACHING FACILITY
CMC-NorthEast is proud to be a teaching hospital, sponsoring a
family residency program in partnership with the physician faculty
of Cabarrus Family Medicine. Residents rotate throughout all areas of the medical center with specialists and
sub-specialists at CMC-NorthEast in addition to their work in the family practice centers. Our residency program offers extensive and diverse educational and real practice
experience for resident physicians. The program is affiliated with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine's Department of Family Medicine, recently ranked
second nationally by U.S. News and World Report. The program also offers a sports medicine fellowship through the Sports Medicine and Injury Center.
Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, located on our main Concord campus, is another partner in educating
future healthcare professionals. Eight different degree or certificate programs are offered to students, including an associate degree in nursing as well as a BSN
completion program. Begun as a nursing school in 1942 during the WWII era, the college now includes 62 faculty members and nearly 350 students annually. Accreditation
for Cabarrus College of Health Sciences is awarded by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
