This summer, in response to an increase of 31% from 2003 to 2005 in pediatric bicycle related injuries seen within local emergency departments local agencies have collaborated on a project to promote bike helmet usage. Select local officers will give children vouchers for discount admissions to Paramounts Carowinds if children are seen wearing a bike helmet and a coupon for a free bike helmet if they are not to encourage them to cycle safely.
