Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital traces its mission back to Paris, France, and the Sisters of Bon Secours who treated the poor in their homes. The Sisters brought their mission to the United States in 1881 and opened their first hospital in 1919.
In 1996, after 114 years in downtown Charleston, S.C., Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital opened doors to a new facility in West Ashley and continues to be guided by the founding Sisters' philosophy of "good help to those in need."
A part of Roper St. Francis Healthcare, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital is a 141 bed state-of-the-art acute care facility with the only full-service, fully-accredited emergency department in West Ashley. Services include:
