| Malpractice provided: | No. Proof of Professional Liability Insurance from your home school is required. Malpractice coverage from your home institution is required to rotate (minimum of $1 million per instance, and $3 million in total). |
| Unique opportunities: | Several senior residents participate in our medical teaching elective during which they work one-on-one with students in the ED (with no other clinical responsibilities during these dedicated shifts). Students will have the opportunity to learn about social services available in Mecklenburg county and participate in a service learning day with a local organizations. |

Both Wake Forest and Visiting Students are able to apply for our Emergency Medicine Healthcare Disparities Externship. In addition to a project focused on healthcare disparities, students work clinical shifts in the department and can request a SLOE following the rotation. We believe that all students should have the opportunity to participate in the Emergency Medicine Acting Internship at Carolinas Medical Center. To help support students who may have special circumstances that would traditionally limit participation in away rotations, we offer a limited number of scholarships, up to $1000, for completing our Acting Internship (AI) in EM (4AIM361 on VLSO). The amount awarded will be based on the distance of the student's home institution from CMC.
