WELCOME FROM THE CHIEF RESIDENT
Keneshia Kirksey, MD: Carolinas Rehabilitation offers a unique Residency Program. There is a diverse group of faculty and residents here who are the best and
brightest in the field of PMR. We have high quality faculty that are active on a national level as well. The faculty is also very committed to resident education.
Being a smaller program, the residents know each other extremely well. The Charlotte area has plenty of activities for singles, as well as for couples with families.
Hey, don't take my word for it; come check it out for yourself!
Faculty and Resident Comments
Sharon K. Kanelos, MD: "I came to Carolinas Rehabilitation as a resident because of the strong, energetic, and enthusiastic faculty as well as a top notch program. Carolinas Rehabilitation is a community based program with the feel of a major academic center. I chose to stay at as a faculty member after graduation for several reasons. I truly enjoyed the faculty under which I trained, and felt that they were a strong asset to the field of PM&R. I was also able to find a perfect fit for the type of practice that I wanted to establish. Moreover, I enjoy teaching and this setting provides me an opportunity to not only improve patients lives, but to also help teach future clinicians."
Carolinas Rehabilitation
Vu Q. C. Nguyen, MD: "I came here as a resident because it was the best program in the Southeast. The level of dedication to the program by the faculty is unparalleled. Each resident is viewed as a unique gem with great brilliance just waiting to be polished. I chose this faculty job over others because I feel there is a special chemistry here. I am at home with this group of people. They are my mentors, pupils, colleagues, and friends."
Sonya G. Rissmiller, MD: "I came to Carolinas Rehabilitation for my residency because of it’s reputation, and because I had an immediate sense of acceptance and familiarity when I interviewed. The faculty is diverse in their interests, yet cohesive as a group. I feel privileged that I can now call them my colleagues, and that I now am involved in teaching the residents. I am amazed each year when we greet our new residents. Just when I think we’ve found the best ones, a new group appears that is every bit as dynamic as the group before. I couldn’t imagine a better group of faculty or residents!"
