APPLICATION INFORMATION

We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS) for PGY-2 positions. In addition, all ERAS applications should be accompanied by a personal statement, resume, dean's letter, three letters of recommendation, medical school transcript, board scores and any additional material that may support the application. After being reviewed, selected applicants are invited to interviews usually on Fridays in December and January. Applicants may choose to arrive a day early to shadow a physiatrist for the day, or may schedule a follow-up visit, if necessary to help in making their decisions. Dinner with residents is provided the night before and all applicants are encourage to arrival early enough the day before to attend the dinner. Housing for one night in a local downtown hotel is provided as well.

For applicants who are interested in doing their preliminary year (PGY-1) in Charlotte, the Internal Medicine Department at Carolinas Medical Center offers several PGY-1 positions. Applicants should contact the Department of Internal Medicine directly to apply for these positions.

Medical Student Clerkship:
A four-week clerkship is also offered to provide senior medical students with experience and exposure to the field of rehabilitation medicine. Prospective residents can come for an elective and see the program firsthand.
