Continuing Medical Education
- CME maximum allowance of $1,900 per year.
Hospitalization / Medical Insurance
- Coverage provided for House Staff and family members. Premiums paid by employer for HMO plan only. Employee pays co-pays. Note: Employee responsible for all premiums and co-pays if PPO or POS plan chosen.
Dental Insurance
- Coverage for House Staff and dependents. $50 per person deductible; $1,000 maximum per person, per calendar year. Employer pays premiums. Employee pays co-pays.
Professional Liability Insurance
- Full coverage while functioning in the role of a house officer. Moonlighting activity is not covered.
Life Insurance
- Employer provides term life insurance equal to annual salary for employee only. Additional coverage for employee and dependents available through payroll deduction.
Disability Insurance
- Provided after 90 days. Amount based on salary when disability begins.
Lab Coats
- Three coats provided initially. One coat allowed each following academic year. Laundry service provided at no charge.
Food
- Meals are provided for on-call and frequently noon-time educational conferences.
Parking
- Free parking is provided.
Computer & Library Services
- A fully stocked library containing all major textbooks and journals is maintained by the department. In addition, pathology and clinical teaching slides and tapes are available, as is a computerized literature search facility. Assistance and instruction in literature review and manuscript preparation is provided. It is expected that faculty and residents will participate in, present and publish scientific material thus contributing to the knowledge base in orthopaedic surgery.
- Free access to reference material is available through the AHEC Library & Information Resource Center and the AHEC Digital Library. Classes are also offered to assist staff in finding and managing the literature effectively.
