EDUCATION AT CAROLINAS MEDICAL CENTER
Located in Charlotte, N.C., Carolinas Medical Center is an 861-bed tertiary care center and the core component of
Carolinas HealthCare System, a not-for-profit, multifaceted, vertically integrated healthcare system. As the largest
healthcare system in the Carolinas, it offers a wide variety of health and human services to residents of both North and South Carolina.
Carolinas HealthCare's three guiding principles are to provide the best possible patient care, to share our knowledge and experience in medical education,
and to learn through research. Designated "Charlotte's Most Preferred Hospital" by the National Research Corporation, Carolinas Medical Center serves as a
major referral center for an eight-county area. Charlotte's major sports franchises, the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Motor Speedway, have selected Carolinas
HealthCare as their official healthcare provider to provide medical services at their events and for their players, their families and their staff.
A High Standard Of Quality Training
As one of five academic medical center teaching hospitals in North Carolina, Carolinas Medical Center conducts residency programs in 10 medical and dental specialties
and serves as an off-campus training site for three more. Along with Carolinas College of Health Sciences, it provides educational environments for more than 1,000 residents,
medical students, physician extenders, nursing students and other allied health professionals annually. With its updated facilities, sophisticated technology, and advanced basic
science and clinical research, Carolinas Medical Center is a particularly exciting place for future primary care physicians and medical subspecialists alike. This degree of technology
does not replace compassion, as we emphasize human values and a spirit of caring for all who need care, regardless of status or financial ability.
