Salary
- PGY-1 $43,698
- PGY-2 $44,797
- PGY-3 $46,365
Vacation
- PGY-1 2 weeks plus several days holiday break
- PGY-2 2 weeks plus several days holiday break
- PGY-3 3 weeks* plus several days holiday break
*One additional week of vacation to be taken during third year
Continuing Medical Education
- CME allowance of $1,900 per year
Technology & Education
- Wireless Pocket PC's (IPAQ) are provided preloaded with patient data tracking programs
- Up-To-Date and MD Consult are free through Carolinas HealthCare System
- Easy access to reference material is available in the Area Health Education Center Library and Digital Library
- Classes are offered to assist staff in finding and managing the literature effectively
Benefits
Medical Insurance
- Coverage provided for housestaff and family members
- Premiums paid by employer for HMO plan only
- Employee pays co-pays
- Employee responsible for all premiums and co-pays if PPO or POS plan chosen
Dental Insurance
- Coverage for housestaff and family members
- $50 per person deductible; $1,000 maximum per person, per calendar year.
- Employer pays premiums, Employee pays co-pays.
Professional Liability Insurance
- Full coverage while functioning in the role of a house officer
- Moonlighting activity is not covered outside the CHS system
Life Insurance
- Employer provides term life insurance equal to annual salary for employee only
- Additional coverage for employee and dependents available through payroll deduction
Disability Insurance
- Provided after 90 days, Amount based on salary when disability begins
Lab Coats
- Three coats provided initially
- One coat allowed each following academic year
- Laundry service provided at no charge
Meals
- Evening and breakfast meals provided for weekdays on-call
- Three meals provided for weekend call
- Lunch provided daily
Parking
- Free covered parking is provided
Moonlighting
- Permitted in the second and third year subject to approval by the residency director
- Must have a permanent, unrestricted North Carolina State medical license
- Not permitted if it interferes with the resident's performance in the training program or when on duty for other required curricular activities
