Dr. Peterson graduated from Davidson College with a BA in Psychology. She went to East Carolina University School of Medicine, where she graduated with the distinction of being a member of the honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. She then completed residency in Pediatrics at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Following a year on faculty at Wake Forest as chief resident, Dr. Peterson returned in 2008 to her hometown of Concord to practice at Cabarrus Pediatrics.
Dr. Peterson is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She currently sees pediatric patients of all ages, from newborn up to 21 years old, for a variety of issues including well check-ups, sick visits, simple procedural visits, and some behavior issues, including ADHD. Dr. Peterson enjoys seeing the variety of patients that pediatrics brings, whether it is for a well check-up or for something more complex.
When not in the office, Dr. Peterson is a wife, and mom to two wonderful boys. She enjoys being very active in the community with different organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Club, and loves being an active member in her church. Although she was a swimmer growing up, she is now a passionate runner. Furthermore, she loves traveling with her family and being very active with her boys, who always seem to wear her out!
Dr. Peterson feels so fortunate to be a part of Cabarrus Pediatrics. Having been a patient at the clinic herself, she has fond memories of it as a child. She feels so fortunate to have a job that she absolutely loves and a team of coworkers, both staff and providers, who are like family. However, it is the patients who truly warm her heart. Getting to walk with families through infancy, childhood and the teenage years, and really getting to know the patient and family is what make her job undoubtedly the best there is!
