Monitoring and treatment
We offer comprehensive services for all ACHD patients, including:
- Routine monitoring: Our patients come in for regular checkups where we monitor for any signs of complications from ACHD. This includes studying your heart’s rhythm and repair to ensure everything is working properly.
- Catheterization: Atrium Health is home the Ganatra Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Suite, one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in our region. Catheters are long, thin tubes that make measurements, diagnose and often treat heart problems. If you had surgery for conditions like narrow heart valves, leaky heart valves or valves that don’t work properly, you may need follow-up procedures as an adult. Our doctors can perform many of these with a catheter – this allows patients to avoid open-heart surgery and heal faster.
- Imaging: We use echocardiograms to study your surgical repair and the function of your heart. We also use CT scans, MRIs and other imaging procedures to ensure your heart is healthy and look for signs of problems.
- Surgery: Performing another surgery on people who’ve already had heart surgery can be highly complex. Our team has done more surgeries on ACHD patients than anyone in the region. And we have a strong track record of helping these patients have successful surgeries and healthy futures, even with the most complex procedures.
- Supportive services: We support patients through every aspect of their care – from helping maintain a balanced diet to connecting families with financial resources if they need help paying for care.
