The Corporate Community Benefit Department coordinates Carolina HealthCare System's involvement in projects that benefit the community. "Building Strong and Healthy Communities" was created by the Community Involvement Council, a volunteer committee comprised of employees throughout CHS. The purpose is to inspire CHS employees to make a difference in the community, and provide opportunities to serve in three distinct ways:
CHS sponsors an annual playground build, book drive, back-to-school supplies drive, and the Christmas Bureau project, allowing employees to give back to the community. Employees volunteer their time year-round to help others in need.
Corporate Community Benefit offers ongoing opportunities for CHS employees and members of their family to volunteer in community programs, projects, or activities. Whether you have time during your lunch, in the evening or on weekends, Community Benefits will try to match a CHS employee with opportunities that meet their interests and availability. The needs are great and so are the rewards. For more information, contact the Corporate Community Benefit Department at 704-446-3000.
The Carolinas HealthCare System International Medical Outreach Program has opportunities both locally and abroad for volunteering. For more information, contact Theresa Johnson at 704-446-2488.
Many CHS employees serve on boards for health and human service agencies, cultural facilities, and public policy committees. They are emerging as leaders by volunteering their time to serve the community.
Community Benenfit at Carolinas HealthCare System promotes several non-profit organizations through our workplace giving campaigns. United Way of Central Carolinas supports health and human services organizations within our community. The Arts and Science Council supports cultural facilities, by providing funding to the arts, sciences, and historical partners in our community. Funds raised for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in the North Carolina and South Carolina area remain local and benefit Levine Children's Hospital and its related facilities. These funds are used to help provide innovative, state-of-the-art technology, treatments and resources. The campaigns enable CHS employees to donate funds through their workplace, in support of these important community efforts.
