Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute's Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at CMC-Union helps people recover from a heart attack or chronic heart disease and live a healthy lifestyle. The goal of the program is to help return patients to a level of activity that's appropriate for a healthy lifestyle and reduce their cardiovascular risk factors.
Our staff includes an exercise physiologist, registered nurse, registered dietitian/diabetes educator, clinical counselor, and a medical director. They develop an individualized plan of monitored exercise and education for patients who have been referred by their doctor. The main components of our rehabilitation program include:
- Physician-supervised exercise programs to help build fitness and improve endurance
- Nutrition assessment and counseling, which may include a personalized diet, blood cholesterol and body composition analysis
- Medication management to help reduce cardiac symptoms, complications and hospitalizations
- Stress management and emotional support
- Smoking cessation
The cardiac rehabilitation program meets for exercise and educational sessions Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
